Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

Start your day early with a departure from Nairobi, aiming to leave the city by around 6:00 AM to beat traffic and make the most of your time at Mount Longonot. You can either drive to Mount Longonot yourself or book a tour with a local operator for added convenience. Enjoy a scenic drive from Nairobi to Mount Longonot, passing through the picturesque landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. Make a brief stop at a viewpoint along the way to stretch your legs, take photos, and admire the breathtaking views of the Rift Valley floor. Arrive at Mount Longonot National Park midmorning, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours after departing from Nairobi, depending on traffic and road conditions. Pay the entrance fee at the park gate and register with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) before starting your hike.  Begin your hike up Mount Longonot's crater rim trail, following the well-marked path that circumnavigates the crater. The hike to the summit and back typically takes 3 to 4 hours, covering a distance of approximately 7.2 kilometers (4.5 miles) with an elevation gain of around 600 meters (1,969 feet). Take your time as you ascend, enjoying the scenic views of the Rift Valley landscape and keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. Bring along a packed lunch or snacks to enjoy at one of the designated picnic areas along the trail. Find a scenic spot with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape to sit back, relax, and refuel before continuing your hike.
