Lake Baringo is a freshwater lake located in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, it is also known for its stunning scenery, with the backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment adding to its beauty. The lake itself is surrounded by rocky cliffs, acacia forests, and volcanic landscapes, creating a picturesque setting for visitors to enjoy. Is also a  paradise for birdwatchers, boasting over 470 bird species recorded in the area. It is home to a diverse range of birdlife, including kingfishers, herons, eagles, and flamingos. The lake's shores and nearby islands provide excellent opportunities for birdwatching and photography. Near Lake Baringo, you can find Ol Kokwe Island, which is home to natural hot springs. These geothermal springs offer a relaxing and therapeutic experience, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Bogoria

  • Morning: Depart from Nairobi early in the morning to make the most of your day. The drive to Lake Bogoria takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Enjoy the scenic journey as you pass through the Great Rift Valley and its stunning landscapes.

  • Mid-Morning: Arrive at Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Check-in to your accommodation, which could be a lodge, campsite, or guesthouse near the lake.

  • Afternoon: After settling in, embark on a game drive in Lake Bogoria National Reserve. The reserve is known for its flamingo populations, hot springs, and diverse wildlife. Keep an eye out for flamingos, zebras, gazelles, and if you're lucky, you might spot the elusive greater kudu or Rothschild's giraffe.

  • Evening: Enjoy dinner at your accommodation, followed by a relaxing evening under the stars. Consider taking a stroll around the campsite or lodge grounds to soak in the serene atmosphere.

Day 2: Lake Bogoria Exploration

  • Morning: Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Lake Bogoria. The early morning light casts a beautiful glow over the lake and surrounding landscape, providing excellent photo opportunities.
