Elephants

Elephants are fascinating and majestic creatures and they are the largest land animals on Earth. African elephants are larger than Asian elephants also they have long trunks, large ears, and tusks. Their trunks are versatile and used for breathing, smelling, touching, grasping, and producing sound and both male and female African elephants have tusks, while in Asian elephants, usually only males have tusks. Its  skin is thick but sensitive. They can feel a fly landing on their skin and use mud to protect it from sunburn and insect bites. They are highly social and live in herds led by a matriarch, the oldest and often largest female. They communicate through vocalizations, body language, and seismic signals (vibrations felt through the ground). They also have have excellent memories, which help them navigate over large territories and remember the locations of water sources. Elephants are found in diverse habitats, including savannas, forests, and deserts, while Asian elephants are typically found in forests and grasslands. African elephants are found across sub-Saharan Africa, while Asian elephants are found in 13 countries across South and Southeast Asia. They are herbivores and spend up to 16 hours a day eating. Their diet includes grasses, fruits, bark, and leaves. They need to drink water daily and can consume up to 50 gallons of water a day.
