Detailed Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara
Our professional safari guide will meet you at JKIA when you land in the morning (if you are already in Nairobi, we will pick you up from the Nairobi Hotel or any other location). The guide will welcome you to your exclusive safari land cruiser and transfer you to Masai Mara National Reserve or Wilson Airport, if you opt for the flying Kenya Migration Safari packages.
We recommend a flight from Nairobi to Masai Mara for family holidays and explorers who want to avoid the 6-hour drive. Road transfers are suitable for those who want cheap Masai Mara safari packages. That’s said, the road Kenya safari allows you to see more of our country at your pace. They offer you the true, Out of Africa Safari experience.
The road trip from Nairobi to Masai Mara takes 6 hours with two stops. One at The Great Rift Valley View Point, and a second one at Narok for last minute shopping.
Whichever option you choose, the aim is to reach Maasai Mara National Reserve safely and enjoy the game drives. On day 1, you will enjoy lunch at the hotel and then rest for a while before heading out for an afternoon game drive.
It’s only logical to not expect a lot of drama as the crocs have had their fill and will not be in the mood to hunt. But the crocs know that lean days are ahead, and so the chase does not stop.
Our guide will take you around the savanna where the predators will be feasting on the newly arriving animals. After the sun goes down, we retreat to the lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation.
Day 2, 3, & 4: Full-Day Game Drives with River Crossing Views
The Mara River is swollen, and animals are escaping the temporary dry season in Tanzania to get to the other side. Grab your camera and let’s capture some of the drama!
We will take off to your exclusive safari land cruiser early in the morning after a cup of freshly brewed coffee or chai (Kenyan tea). For the next 7 to 8 hours, you will watch as the animals fight each other to make it across and enjoy fresh pasture.
You will also get deeper into the jungle to see the situation beyond the river. Herbivores have plenty of grass now that the rains have fallen, and giraffes have the juiciest of leaves thanks to the new sprouts.
These game drives will see you take lunch right at the jungle to give you the maximum chance to witness the migration to the fullest.
Day 5: Maasai Village (optional) and Transfer to Nairobi
The Kenya migration safari has ended and it’s time to head back to Nairobi. Depending on the option you choose, you should be in the capital by afternoon. Before leaving this side of Kenya, you will visit a Maasai village.
Locals are always engaging, and the children will entertain you with songs. You will also get the opportunity to buy souvenirs handmade by the Maasai women and children. In doing so, you will be making it possible for communities to send their kids to school or build shelters to fight traditions such as female genital mutilation.
You will Dance and Jump with the Maasais, as they delight you with anecdotes of their acclaimed culture. We hope you had a great migration safari. The guide will drop you off at JKIA or a hotel in Nairobi.
